Oh wow. I remember when I was a senior in highschool in 94/95 a friens of mine had AOL. Waaaaay back when it started to become popular and there was only 14.4 modems and it was all dial-up. Ugh. Anyway, she had AOL and we would go to her house after school and log into chat rooms and harass random people. Not everybody had the internet...actually most people didn't. We didn't have it at school at all!

I remember my very first screen name was babygrace on AOL and there was a regular chat room I would hang out in. I actually made some really close friends. The internet was really different back then. It was a lot more fun.

I did two tarot card readings last week. One was really good and with the other one...I just didn't trust myself enough. I was reading my boss and some of the stuff that came up was making me uncomfortable so I ignored it. It just wasn't a good reading. That's why I don't like to read people that I know. That's also why I don't do readings very often anymore. Reading cards drains a lot of my energy. I'm always really tired after I finish.

I mostly don't like being married. To all the single girls on my F-list: Enjoy it before its gone. Seriously. To all the married girls on my F-list: Does it get any easier??

I do like being a homeowner. Its fun. Decorating is fun. I set up the tree last night and it looks really pretty. Its a 7 foot tall pine and its decorated with colored lights and all of the ornaments are red, green and gold.

I want a different horse. I'll talk more about this in my other journal.

I've been having knee problems. My left knee keeps swelling up and getting really stiff. I've been exercising more and started jogging. I might need to switch to something more low-impact. I'll go to the doctor as soon as my insurance starts in December. I need more contacts too.

That's it for now. I'm having a bed delivered today and I still have to make a space for it!

Since Halloween is right around the corner...
There was a post on sf_drama last night about creepy stories, legends, etc...
I shared one of mine:

When I was 15, I babysat for two little girls ages 8 and 11. Their house was directly across the street from a cemetery. This never really bothered me though because I lived in a neighborhood on the south side of Chicago that was practically bordered with cemeteries on all sides. (we actually used to ride our bikes in the cemeteries when we were kids).

Anyway, their parents owned a restaurant/bar so they usually worked pretty late on Friday's and Saturday's. This happened on a Friday night. I had put the kids down for the night at about 10:00pm. They were pretty wound up this particular night and I had a hard time getting them to sleep. I finally got them both to lay down in their parent's bed. I read them a story and off they went to dream land.
I went back downstairs to the family room to watch tv and raid the fridge, typical babysitter activities. I ended up falling asleep on the couch and was woken up at about 12:30am by the sound of someone running around upstairs. I was a little aggravated because it had taken me so long to get the girls to go to bed and now they were up goofing off. I put my "stern face" on and went upstairs. The bedroom door was still pulled closed so I thought I would push it open and yell "boo", or something to catch them in the act. Well, I flung the door open and they were both sound asleep....just as I'd left them.
I went back down stairs. I thought I must have been dreaming when I'd heard the running. I had fallen asleep to "Are You Afraid of the Dark", after all. I sat back down on the couch and not three minutes later I heard someone running around upstairs again. It scared the shit out of me. To make mattes worse, the dog started barking in the general direction of the stairs. Then I heard heavy footsteps walking down the stairs. I could not see the stairs from where I was sitting. I honestly did not know what to do. In the back of my mind I kept repeating that line from that old movie "Have you checked the children?"
I called the police and the aunt who lived nearby.
I then gathered every ounce of courage that I had and ran up the stairs and grabbed the kids. We went and sat on the front porch until the police came. They checked the entire house and found nothing.
To this day, I still have no idea what happened that night. No one ever brought it up again. I'm pretty sure it was a ghost. What else could it have been?
As a side note, I did still babysit for these people but I would make the kids sleep on the couch near me.

I keep having weird random dreams about French Macarons. I've never even eaten one!

The builders accepted the bid we put in for our house! We're home owners!! Now we just need the loan to go through!

Holy crap! I'm getting married in 9 DAYS!!!!!!!

We put an offer on a house last night so everybody keep your fingers crossed that the sellers accept the bid!

I have been so busy lately that I don't even know where to begin. My other bit of good news: My job is sending me to Cancun for three days!! I'll be in Cancun on October 1, 2 & 3, coming home on the 4th. I can't wait! I'll need a vacation after all the wedding and home buying stress!

There's a little witch in all of us...

Okay, so I made the HUGE mistake of going to ITT Technical Institute. WORST. SCHOOL. EVER. However, I met some great people (including my future husband) and we had a lot of fun. We had to make a movie for one of our classes and I just found it online. I'm warning you now, it really sucks hard!

Ghost Picture

I'd give it to my mom.  Kind of a dumb question today, if you ask me...

I had a horrible migraine yesterday.  It started at work and continued all the way home.  When I got home I took some aspirin and lay on the couch with the dogs and the fiance.  After an hour I felt so much better that I made pancakes.  All was right with the world.
I think I am stressing too much about the wedding.  I'm also stressed because we want to get a house and we looked at this gorgeous townhouse that would be PERFECT but now we have to get a mortgage loan.  Ahem....my credit isn't actually.....um....great....

We'll see.  We are meeting with a mortgage lender after I get back from Louisiana next week.  Keep your fingers crossed!

I tried on my wedding dress the other day and it was sort of ...too tight?  UGH!!  I'm getting married in September!  I think if I can drop 5lbs I'll be okay.  I signed up at Cardinal Fitness in Palos Heights yesterday because its right across the street from my job.  I went this morning and if it rains today I'll go after work too.  I wish I didn't love food so much!

I've decided to make another journal for the sole purpose of keeping track of my riding.  Friend me if you're interested!

Yes, this is a rant.
I had a HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE at House of Brides the other day. My sister and I met at the HoB in Orland Park, IL to pick out her bridesmaid dress. I figured that while I was there, I would try on my dress too. I asked the Sales Lady to get my dress and she heads to the back room to get it. A few minutes later she comes out with a snotty look and a piece of paper.

"I'm sorry miss but you opted out of your dress." she tells me. Then begins vigorously pointing at a piece of paper that she's holding. "See, right here (point, point). You returned it and we don't have it anymore."

djsakljfskfhduiw;hgure....."WHAT?!???!?!

!!!" I shriek. "I DID NOT OPT OUT OF MY DRESS. IT WAS PAID IN FULL LAST TIME I WAS HERE! IT HAD BETTER BE HERE!!!"  panic panic panic panic....

Sales Lady then scrambles off to the back room mumbling something about checking again. In the meantime I am fuming and my sister keeps trying to calm me down. NO ONE in the store is trying to help me, no one apologizes or acknowledges my existence.

Sales Lady finally emerges from the back room and lets me know that they do have my dress. She then informs me that it was listed under a different store location and therefore not in their system. Still no apology. I reminded her that that little mistake was their fault. You see, when I ordered the dress it was sent to the wrong store and had to be driven over to the Orland Park location. Sales Lady kind of sighs and rolls her eyes at this. I very calmly ask her again if I can please try on my dress. Big sigh this time and she scuttles off to the back room to get my dress. I AM NOT leaving the store without my dress this time.

While I'm waiting I decide to confirm my alterations appointment. My dress thankfully does not need too many alterations. I actually just need a bustle. I ask the Counter Girl if she can check my alteration day. She gets out her appointment book and flips through it and lo and behold, there is no appointment. I know my mother made the appointment for July 11th. Counter Girl, basically calling me a liar, tells me that they don't do alterations on the weekends. At this point I am ready to punch someone in the face. I whip out my cell phone and call my mom. She confirms that she did make the appointment and the girl she spoke with had a heavy accent. I tell this to Counter Girl and She says, "Oh that was Foreign Girl, she doesn’t work here anymore."
Oooooooooooh okay.......that makes it all better?
Still no apology.

Counter Girl then hands me a ticket with alteration pricing on it. Now remember, all I'm going to need is a bustle. For those of you that don't know, its just a few little hooks that hold your train up so its not dragging all over the place during the reception. Simple right? Not at House of Brides! According to this ticket, that bustle is going to cost me somewhere in the neighborhood of $475.00!! I say this can't be right. Counter Girl tells me that it is right. I say nope, no thanks. I'll get my bustle put on somewhere else. Besides, at this point I DO NOT want to leave my dress there. I really don't want to get my bridesmaid dress there either. Which brings me to that portion of the HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!

Sales Lady hands me my dress and I snatch it and hug it to my chest in a death grip. The Jaws of Life couldn’t cut it away from me at this point. I ask Sales Lady about bridesmaid dresses. I let her know that I am looking for dresses that come in chocolate brown and tea length. She says, in a constipated tone, “That’s not how we do it here. You try on the dresses and then we let you know if it comes in your color.”

Oooookay…that sounds ass-backwards to me but I’ll play your little game House of Brides. My sister picks out some dresses and she tries them on. We are not particularly thrilled with any of them but settle on two (secretly we have decided that we are going down the street to David’s Bridal to try on some more dresses) and bring them to Counter Girl. My sister asks her to put these two dresses on my “wish list” and we are going to think about it and come back. Counter Girl informs us that any bridesmaid dress that we order is going to be a rush order and cost $60 to $70 dollars more. Now, let me let you all know that I had called earlier in the week and I was told I had plenty of time to order the bridesmaid dress. All of a sudden it was a rush order? Then Sales Lady asks me how many girls I have in my wedding party. I tell her, “Your looking at her.” My sister is my matron of honor and that’s it. She sniffs and makes a face. “That’s going to be extra. We add $25 if there is only one person in your bridal party.”

Whaaaaat the hell??? You are going to charge me for only having one person in my bridal party? I have NEVER heard of this. Still no apology. This particular House of Brides is very good at making you feel like you are scum and have no business being there. It was a really bad experience. I will not be going back there for any reason and I will not recommend them to anyone.
We leave and go to David’s Bridal. David’s Bridal in Orland Park is wonderful! They made me feel like a princess and treated my sister and I as if we were the only people in the store. We found a bridesmaid dress (not a rush order) and also got information on tuxes. Thank you David’s Bridal!
